Dr Lian Tsui Yee is a Senior Consultant in the Department of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology, Tan Tock Seng Hospital since 2008. Associate Professor Dr Katy Leung Ying Ying is a Senior Consultant in the Department of Rheumatology & Immunology at Singapore General Hospital and an Associate Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School. She obtained her MBChB in 1999 and MD in 2017 from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. As a clinician-scientist, she specializes in psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and manages a dedicated clinic with over 400 cases. Her research focuses on observational and translational studies in PsA, spondyloarthritis, and osteoarthritis, earning her the NMRC Clinician Scientist Award in 2017 and 2025. Professor Dr Paul Bird is an experienced rheumatologist and researcher, dedicated to the expert management of patient with all forms of arthritis and rheumatic disease. Professor Bird received his medical degree with Honours from the University of Newcastle and completed his physician and rheumatology training in Sydney. Pursuing research alongside clinical medicine and patient care, he completed a PhD in 2005 examining MRI in Rheumatoid arthritis, and a Graduate Diploma in MRI. He continues to undertake arthritis research with fellow Australian rheumatologists and with international colleagues.
He has held Staff Specialist roles at both St George Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital and a visiting medical officer position at Griffith Base Hospital, where he managed a rural rheumatology clinic from 1999-2005. He continues to teach medical students and postgraduates as part of his commitment to medical education.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Bird is the Medical Director of Emeritus Clinical Research Sydney, a facility dedicated to pursuing trials of the latest developments in rheumatology.

PD Dr. med. Eva Vanessa Schrezenmeier is a senior physician at the Department of Nephrology and Internal Intensive Care Medicine at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. In addition to her work as head of clinical trials, she is responsible for the treatment of rare and immune-mediated kidney diseases (SLE, amyloidosis, etc.) at the Center for Rare Kidney Diseases (CeRKiD). Her scientific work focuses on B-cell memory in immune-mediated kidney disease, a topic for which she was awarded the Else Kröner Excellence Scholarship in 2024.
After studying human medicine at the Charité with practical stays abroad in the USA, Canada and Israel, she received her doctorate "summa laude" in 2015. This was followed by a postdoc phase at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine and at the German Rheumatism Research Center, where she conducted in-depth research on immunological issues. Since 2022, she has been leading the research group "B-cell memory in immune-mediated kidney diseases" at Charité as a research group leader.
Her scientific career has been honored by scholarships, third-party funded projects and prizes, including the Hans U. Zollinger Prize of the German Society of Nephrology. Professor Dr Andrea Doria is Professor of Rheumatology and Head of the Unit of Connective Tissue Disease and Rare Rheumatic Diseases, Division of Rheumatology, Department of Medicine, University of Padua, Italy.
Professor Doria received his medical degree and qualification in Rheumatology from the University of Padua. He was Council member of the Italian College of Rheumatology (CRO) between 1999 and 2005 and a Council member of the Italian Society of Rheumatology (SIR) from 2007 to 2010 and from 2013 until now. He is also a member of American College of Rheumatology.
Professor Doria has organised over ten international conferences on autoimmunity and was involved as “expert” in the EULAR Standing Committee for the development of clinical and therapeutic recommendations: (1) EULAR recommendations for the management of SLE—Assessment of the SLE patient (2008–2009); (2) EULAR recommendations for the management of SLE Part II— Neuropsychiatric disease (2008–2009); (3) Joint EULAR/ERA-EDTA recommendations for the management of adult and paediatric lupus nephritis (2012). Professor Doria is a member of the Lupus Academy Steering Committee and co-Chaired the 4th Annual Meeting held in Rome 27th February to 1st March 2015. He was the chair of the 10th European Lupus Meeting, held in Venice (Italy) 5–8th October 2016.
Professor Doria is on the Editorial Boards of several rheumatology and immunology journals, including Lupus, Autoimmunity, Clinical and Experimental Rheumatology, Autoimmunity Reviews, Journal of Autoimmunity, Experimental Biology and Medicine, Rheumatology Reports, Journal Autoimmunity Highlights and Reumatismo (the official journal of Italian Society of Rheumatology).
He has authored over 250 ISI publications on SLE and other connective tissue diseases. These include clinical studies describing new manifestations or subgroups of autoimmune disorders, prognostic risk factors, diagnostic tests, and therapeutic interventions, as well as immunochemical studies that evaluate autoantibodies, epitopes, and complementary epitopes of autoantigens. In addition, he has authored and co-authored three books, over 90 book chapters and conference proceedings, and over 500 abstracts for national and international conferences.
Professor Doria has long-standing experience of the clinical management of patients with connective tissue diseases. The Unit in which he works is a tertiary referral rheumatology centre, within Italy, for the diagnosis and management of patients affected with systemic connective diseases. In addition, he has expertise in the management and follow-up of pregnant patients with systemic rheumatic diseases. Professor Doria has also trained over 30 students in rheumatology.

Dr Ch’ng coordinates active clinical research programs centered on rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and is actively involved with the National Inflammatory Arthritis Registry. She has been the principal and sub-investigator for a number of international studies for rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and systemic sclerosis. Dr Ch’ng has had her work published in conference proceedings, and has presented in a wide variety of professional seminars and short courses on topics related to rheumatology.

He remained at UMMC to teach Internal Medicine and Rheumatology, before completing his fellowship at St George Hospital, University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. Since then, Dr. Sargunan has dedicated his career toward leading the Rheumatology unit of UMMC as the premier University clinical, research and rheumatology training center in Malaysia.
Besides clinical work, Dr. Sargunan’s main interest is in teaching and guiding aspiring medical professionals to reach their full potential as accomplished physicians through informative and engaging lectures. Dr. Sargunan has published a number of articles in peer reviewed journals, in addition to being an associate editor for the International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases. He is also a member of the Asia Pacific Lupus Collaboration.
And finally he is working on establishing a real time registry of Rheumatology cases in UMMC. The first phase of this data has been published in the latest EULAR 2018 abstract collection. His other interests are music, travel photography and poetry.

Dr Juliana Fairuz Maktar is a Consultant Radiologist and Clinical Lecturer at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the Russian State Medical University and later completed her postgraduate Radiology training at UKM. Dr Juliana currently heads the MRI Unit at her institution and actively contributes to both undergraduate and postgraduate education.
